10 Meetings in 10 Capital Cities:
The ENGAGE Project’s Stakeholder Workshop Series
The Stakeholder Workshop Series is a core part of the Horizon2020 project ENGAGE (Envisioning a New Governance Architecture for a Global Europe), which is executed by 13 European universities and think tanks. ENGAGE asks: How can the EU – both its institutions and its Member States –effectively and sustainably harness all of its tools in a joined-up external action alongside the Common Foreign and Security Policy in order to meet current and future strategic challenges and become a stronger global actor?
The research carried out in the ENGAGE project will culminate in a White Paper on Joined-up, Coherent, Sustainable, and Effective EU External Action, to be presented to EU officials in June 2024. The document will inform policymakers on the governance structures, policy mechanisms, and strategic objectives needed to ensure combined, coherent, balanced, and effective EU external action (including the CFSP with CSDP, all other EU external action domains, and traditionally internal policy domains with external impact).
To render our proposals as operational and effective as possible, we seek to consult Member States, EU neighbors, and strategic partners on our ideas via a series of Stakeholder Workshops. These closed-door meetings are held among select groups of policymakers, officials, and experts (the Chatham House rule applies), and the specific topic is agreed on with local partners to suit the interests of the host country. Most often, such sessions bring together up to 15 people and last from 1 to 2 hours.
